about louth island
Our History.
Our Story.
Once an untamed sheep farm established in the 1800’s, Louth Island reveals its stories past and natural splendour just a 10-minute journey away from the coast from Port Lincoln.
From its humble beginnings in the early 19th century, this enchanting island has evolved through the ages, bearing witness to the ebb and flow of time.
Rumi is a project born from a deep respect and reverence for this historical gem. It was created as an ode to the island’s two century long history, with two core principles:
1. To restore and reinvigorate the ancient island where Rumi calls home. This involves meticulous restoration and an ongoing commitment to revegetation and conservation.
2. To open the island’s unique beauty to the world, and share it wholeheartedly with intrepid guests who not only seek an exceptional getaway, but also hold a genuine respect for the island’s ecology.
At present day, Rumi on Louth offers the promise of an
extraordinary island experience.
An opportunity to explore the wild.
An opportunity to indulge in the luxurious.
