South Australia’s first private luxury eco accommodation, Rumi on Louth, set on Louth Island in the Eyre Peninsula, has announced the launch of Samphire Series; an exclusive off-the-menu dining event created by their Executive Chef Jono Sweet. The special event will take place this Saturday night, September 7th.
Whether you’ve already got Rumi on Louth on your dream bucket list, or it’s simply just not something that’s within your reach, the Samphire Series is a rare opportunity to experience the resort’s exceptional dining without having to stay overnight, for a fraction of the usual price. Rumi joins the ranks of other premium retreats like Kingsford the Barossa, Mount Lofty’s Sequoia Lodge and KI’s Southern Ocean Lodge, and this is your chance to experience it.
For $175 per person, guests will indulge in a luxurious four-course dinner and a return Sealegs transfer from Louth Bay to Louth Island.
The evening’s menu will showcase local delicacies, starting with Hiramasa Kingfish Tartar, Uni Chawanmusic Foam, Nori, and Wild Rice. The main course will feature Wagyu Sirloin with Szechuan Pepper, Pine Mushrooms, and Baby Leeks. Dessert will include Earl Grey Bavarois, Kumquat, Manuka Honey, and Tuille, while snacks will feature Yumbah Abalone, Kohlrabi and XO Sauce, Gazander Oyster Pate with Brioche, and Caviar.
Rumi on Louth’s full resort is set to open in its entirety next year. The second stage of development will introduce 27 additional villas and a private VIP house. In the meantime, ‘Rumi Reveal’ offers a preview of the resort with a minimum two-night stay, or through a selection of immersive experiences.
Under the direction of entrepreneur Che Metcalfe, the resort has transformed a former sheep farm into an eco-friendly luxury retreat, focusing on sustainability with solar power and comprehensive recycling and composting systems.
A key feature of the resort is the Samphire Restaurant, which opens daily, and showcases the Rumi’s commitment to fresh, locally sourced seafood. Head Chef Jono Sweet, awarded a Good Food Guide Chef Hat in 2020 and a Good Food Readers’ Choice Award and retained hat in 2021, and his team celebrate the region’s local seafood and native ingredients, blending them with Mediterranean flavours.
“My cooking philosophy is deeply rooted in a passion for local seafood and native ingredients, taking full advantage of what the abundant coastline of the Eyre Peninsula has to offer,” A note from Executive Chef Jono Sweet reads.
“I am a firm believer in the paddock-to-plate approach, ensuring that each ingredient is celebrated, respected, and enjoyed. This commitment to the integrity and appreciation of food is at the heart of every creation.”
