THE FOUNDERS
A Vision for Rumi
Rumi on Louth was born from a simple idea. To create a place that did not yet exist. A private island where considered luxury lives in harmony with the natural world.
“We didn’t want to build a resort. We wanted to create a sanctuary. A place to step away from the modern world and return to something more natural, without ever losing comfort.”
— Che & Natasha Metcalfe
OUR HOME
Where Desert Meets Sea
Louth Island rests in the calm waters of the Spencer Gulf, a short distance from the mainland. It is a place of contrasts. Red granite outcrops, white sandy beaches and sheltered coves alive with marine life.
Once a working sheep station, the island has been carefully restored. Thousands of native trees now shape the landscape and the natural birdlife and ecosystem have returned, slowly and quietly, over time.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Future of Rumi
Rumi on Louth continues to evolve gradually and with intention. Each stage of the project is guided by long-term thinking, environmental responsibility and a measured approach to development on the island.
Off-Grid Infrastructure
Rumi operates independently through renewable energy and self-sustaining infrastructure designed to support the island with minimal impact.
Pavilions & Guest Spaces
Future phases will introduce a limited collection of thoughtfully positioned pavilions and refined guest spaces across the island. Each addition is designed to sit quietly within the landscape, prioritising privacy, stillness and connection to place.
Curated Experiences
The Rumi experience will continue to expand through a considered program of curated activities, dining, wellness and nature-based experiences shaped by the rhythm of the island. Programming will remain intentionally limited and highly personalised.
Restoration & Stewardship
Ecological restoration remains central to the project. Long-term work is underway to regenerate native vegetation, protect biodiversity and care for the island over generations to come.
