Rumi on Louth has announced the conclusion of Stage One of the island’s journey, with standard guest accommodation operations to temporarily pause as owners Che and Natasha Metcalfe progress planning for the next phase of the project’s long-term vision.

Since opening, Rumi on Louth has become one of Australia’s most distinctive boutique hospitality destinations, recognised for its considered approach to design, environmental stewardship and experience-led luxury.

In a relatively short period of time, the island retreat received a number of national industry recognitions, including:

  • Two Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hats
  • Advanced Eco Tourism Certification
  • ECOstar Accreditation
  • Sustainable Tourism Accreditation
  • 5-Star Accreditation

The transition marks an evolution of the project rather than a closure, with Stage Two expected to introduce a future collection of private pavilions and expanded guest experiences designed in alignment with the values that have guided Rumi since its inception.

Owners Che and Natasha Metcalfe said the decision allows the project to move into its next phase with clarity and intention.

“Rumi was always envisioned as a long-term project, one that would evolve carefully over time,” they said.

“We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved during this first chapter and deeply grateful to every guest, team member, collaborator and supporter who helped shape it.”

“While accommodation operations will pause for this next stage, the vision for Rumi very much continues.”

Importantly, Louth Island will remain available for select full-island buyouts, weddings and private events by enquiry.

Further details regarding Stage Two will be announced in due course.
